Drinking a Glass of Water Visual

August 2022 | Katie Frank, PhD, OTR/L - Occupational Therapist

We often encourage individuals with Down syndrome who come to our clinic to drink more water. This recommendation can be interpreted in different ways. One individual with Down syndrome who heard this recommendation from a doctor at our clinic filled a glass with water, drank a little bit of the water, refilled the glass, drank a little water, and so on, rather than drinking a greater number of full glasses of water.

A visual can help in situations such as these. The visuals below use pictures to demonstrate what it means to drink a full glass of water. Click or tap on each image to access a printable version.
