Did you know? People with Down syndrome are at higher risk of developing some mental health conditions.
While estimates vary, it is thought that about 40 percent of people with Down syndrome develop a mental health condition during their lifetime. These conditions may include depression, anxiety, and OCD. At the Adult Down Syndrome Center, we are fortunate to have a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, a social worker, and an occupational therapist. They use non-medicinal and/or medicinal approaches when treating individuals with Down syndrome and a co-occurring mental health condition.
Our Resource Library has a variety of mental health resources developed by our team, including a free PDF version of the book Mental Wellness in Adults with Down Syndrome. See below for a list of featured mental health resources.
