"If you have met one person with Down syndrome, you have met one person with Down syndrome" is a common phrase in the Down syndrome community. We typically refer to "people with Down syndrome" as a group when we share health and wellness information on our Facebook page and Resource Library. There are certainly similarities among many people with Down syndrome in terms of health and wellness. However, those similarities serve as a guidebook, not a rule book. What is best for one person may not be best for another. Understanding commonalities and appreciating unique characteristics are important aspects of our approach to supporting individuals with Down syndrome in their health journeys.
