Did you know? People with Down syndrome are at higher risk of developing some mental health conditions.
A review of data from our healthcare organization showed that depression, anxiety, OCD, and other mental health conditions were more common in people with Down syndrome compared to people without Down syndrome included in the study. Our health care providers support individuals with Down syndrome and co-occurring mental health conditions using a variety of non-medicinal and/or medicinal approaches. In the webinar recording linked here, Dr. Brian Chicoine describes mental health conditions, shares strategies for promoting mental wellness, and provides examples from his experience at the Adult Down Syndrome Center.
