Did you know? Many individuals with Down syndrome have "grooves" or a preference for routine or repetition.

Many individuals with Down syndrome prefer sameness, repetition, or routine. This preference has been called the “groove.” The groove may be seen in the way a person completes tasks, keeps a precise schedule, repeats familiar phrases, and/or gravitates to the same songs, TV shows, or movies. The groove can be very functional and beneficial; but it can also become problematic for the individual and his/her family, roommates, co-workers, etc. Brian Chicoine, MD and Katie Frank, PhD, OTR/L provide more information on this topic in the webinar recording linked here.
