Did you know? There are many potential causes of a decline or loss of skills in an individual with Down syndrome.
A decline or loss of skills in an individual with Down syndrome may be caused by physical or mental health conditions, life transitions, individual or family stress, and grief, among other causes. Some of these causes are potentially reversible or treatable. While Alzheimer's disease is more common in people with Down syndrome and a possible cause of decline in skills, it is important to rule out other potential causes. Brian Chicoine, MD presented a webinar on this topic in August. A link to the recording can be found here.
