Social Skills for the Workplace Group - Session 1

Wednesday, October 04, 2023
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Overview

Social skills for the workplace group

Individuals with Down syndrome are invited to participate in our 4-week virtual group on socially appropriate behavior in the workplace.

Details

Although people with Down syndrome can be excellent employees, research and experience have demonstrated that inadequate social skills are one of the main reasons that people with Down syndrome lose their jobs. Social skills are an abstract concept that many people with Down syndrome need to be taught and learn.

In this 4-week virtual group, individuals with Down syndrome will learn about socially appropriate behavior in the workplace. The group will be facilitated by Katie Frank, PhD, OTR/L, occupational therapist, and Abby Rowley, LCSW, licensed clinical social worker at the Adult Down Syndrome Center. There is no cost to participate in the groups. There are two sessions. Please pick one.

Session 1 - Wednesdays, October 4 to October 25 (11:00am to 12:00pm CDT)

Session 2 - Thursdays, October 5 to October 26 (4:00pm to 5:00pm CDT)

Space is limited! Registration is required. Please note: registering for the group does not guarantee a spot in the group. Katie and Abby will contact participants after registration has closed.
