We go over "group rules" at the beginning of every in-person and virtual group for individuals with Down syndrome that we facilitate at the Adult Down Syndrome Center. We think it is important to set expectations from the beginning so participants understand how the group will run. Group rules also help keep groups on track and give all participants an opportunity to contribute to the group.
We have multiple versions of our group rules because we continually learn from individuals with Down syndrome who participate in our groups. This learning enables us to improve the resources we use and provide and the programming we offer.
We hold our in-person groups at our clinic. In order to respect and maintain the privacy of our patients, we request that group participants ask permission before leaving the group.
