As COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to rise, many hospitals are reinstituting limited visitor policies. We want to share a reminder that U.S. hospital visitor policies must accommodate individuals with Down syndrome and other intellectual or developmental disabilities so that they are able to safely access the in-person supports they need. In June 2020, the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services issued a resolution making clear that this is a requirement of federal law.
