Last week, we held an art show to celebrate the participants in our spring Art Group. During the 6-week group, participants explored different art techniques and mixed media including painting, coloring, pottery, modeling with clay, and more!
Art Group offers many benefits for adults with Down syndrome. It provides opportunities to express their creativity, practice fine motor skills, learn about art, and socialize with other adults with Down syndrome.
We are grateful for:
-
Alyssa Harris, an art therapist and Director of the Brickton Art Center, for facilitating the group.
-
Mary and Cathy, two wonderful volunteers from Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, for supporting the group.
-
The families of the participants, for fostering their loved ones’ interest in art and attending the art show.
-
And, most importantly, the participants for sharing their beautiful creations with us!
Our next session of Art Group will be held in the fall. We will share information about registration through our email newsletter. If you live near the Adult Down Syndrome Center, and would like to participate, please sign up to receive our emails!
