Quick Tip for Healthy Eating

Healthy eating tip veggies

We just wrapped up the June session of our Summer Wellness Group. One of the tips for healthy eating that we shared is filling half our plate with fruits and vegetables. We snacked on a variety of fruits and vegetables including watermelon, apples, cherry tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, celery, and more. Red, yellow, and orange peppers were a big hit!

Most participants shared that they like more fruits than vegetables. Healthline's article 17 Creative Ways to Eat More Vegetables provides great tips for adding veggies to our diets. Summer is also a wonderful time to check out a farmer's market. Consider going to a farmer's market or the produce section of the grocery store with your loved one with Down syndrome. Encourage them to pick out a new vegetable to try.
