Many individuals with Down syndrome are very good at picking up the feelings and emotions of the people around them. This is part of social sensitivity, which is an awareness of one's social environment. There are both positives and negatives to having strong social sensitivity. It has been challenging for some individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic as they have been acutely aware of stress and anxiety in their homes, within their communities, and on the news.
