Did you know?

Constipation is a common health issue experienced by people with Down syndrome.

Constipation can cause discomfort, bloating, and decreased appetite. If not addressed, it can lead to a number of more serious health issues. Eating foods with fiber, drinking plenty of water, and exercising are non-medicinal ways to address constipation. Sometimes the addition of a fiber supplement, stool softener, or mild laxative is necessary, all of which should be discussed with your healthcare provider before initiating. More information about constipation in people with Down syndrome can be found at this link.
