Solid tumor cancers such as breast cancer are less common in people with Down syndrome.

A Danish study published in 2016 found the risk of all major groups of solid tumors, except testicular cancer, was decreased for individuals with Down syndrome compared to individuals without Down syndrome. Data like this are important to consider when developing recommendations for screening tests such as mammograms.
