Meet the Team: Katie Frank, PhD, OTR/L

The Adult Down Syndrome Center is fortunate to have one of the only occupational therapists in the country who specializes in working with adolescents and adults with Down syndrome. Katie Frank, PhD, OTR/L joined the team in August 2016 after completing a PhD in disability studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Frank has been in the field of occupational therapy for over 20 years and has experience working with individuals with Down syndrome of all ages.

Dr. Frank’s experience includes treatment and evaluation as well as facilitating groups for people with Down syndrome; conducting trainings for staff, families, and caregivers; and offering a variety of other educational opportunities across the United States. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals. She is also the current president of the Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group – USA, a group of health professionals from a variety of disciplines who provide care for individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy, Saint Louis University
  • Master of Health Science Degree, University of Indianapolis
  • PhD in Disability Studies, University of Illinois at Chicago

About Dr. Frank

  • Originally from Cincinnati (Who-Dey)
  • Fan of the Cincinnati Bengals
  • During the weekends, she is typically trying out the newest restaurants in Chicago with her husband.
