DSMIG-USA IDD COVID-19 Vaccination Position Statement

On December 16, 2020, the Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group - USA issued a position statement on the COVID-19 vaccine. The position statement has been updated several times, most recently on November 15, 2021.  

DSMIG-USA recommends the COVID-19 vaccine and booster shots for all children and adults with Down syndrome or other intellectual disabilities  who are eligible who do not have a specific contraindication to the vaccine. Information about who was included in studies of the COVID-19 vaccine, who should not get the COVID-19 vaccine, and the potential effect of the vaccine on the immune system is provided in the statement. A list of organizations that signed the position statement is also included in the statement. 

The providers at the Adult Down Syndrome Center agree with the statement issued by DSMIG-USA.
