We provide a variety of events, classes, and programs that promote physical, mental, and social health.

    Art Group

    Facilitated by an art therapist, this group involves exploring a variety of art forms including painting, sculpture, mixed media, and more. The group is offered several times throughout the year.

  • Alzheimer's disease and Down syndrome support group

    Down Syndrome and Alzheimer's Disease Support Group

    Caregivers and loved ones of individuals with Down syndrome and Alzheimer's disease in Illinois are invited to our Down Syndrome and Alzheimer's Disease Support Group. Meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month from 12:00-1:00pm on Zoom. Attendees are welcome to share their experiences and receive support from other attendees. Some meetings include an educational component such as a presentation or video with discussion.

    Games Group

    Facilitated by our occupational therapist and licensed clinical social worker, this group encourages social engagement while playing board and card games such as Bingo, UNO, Left Right Center, and more.

  • New_Music_Class

    Music Group

    This virtual group is facilitated by a music therapist and a member of the Park Ridge Civic Orchestra. Before each class, participants complete simple projects based on a theme. The facilitators encourage the participants to use the projects as they engage with music related to the theme. This group is currently full. Please contact Ann or Jennifer if you would like to be added to the waitlist.

    Social Skills Groups

    A variety of social skills groups are offered throughout the year for people 12 and older. Topics include conversation skills, dating and relationships, coping with stress, healthy living, and more. Currently, these groups are held virtually.

    Summer Wellness Group

    The Adult Down Syndrome Center offers in-person programming during the summer to encourage individuals with Down syndrome to promote their health and wellness. Activities include making healthy snacks, being active, crafting, socializing, and more.
