Definition of Health

January 2011 | Brian Chicoine, MD - Medical Director, Adult Down Syndrome Center

Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. (World Health Organization)

At the Adult Down Syndrome Center, we strive to address the health of the whole person. The World Health Organization’s definition of health is a goal for our approach. Our facility gives us the opportunity to teach, share with, and learn from people with Down syndrome and their families in all aspects of health – physical, mental, and social. We want to learn about their lives, dreams, and goals so we can better serve them and be a place where others can learn from their experiences.
