New in 2022: In partnership with the Illinois Respite Coalition (IRC), the Division of Developmental Disabilities in the Illinois Department of Human Services was awarded a five-year $1.3 million Lifespan Respite Care Enhancement Grant from the Administration on Community Living (ACL). New services that were created as a result includes:

  • Statewide respite toll-free line to provide information and referrals for respite: 866-ILL-RESP (866-455-7377).

  • Emergency voucher stipends (up to $500) for caregivers in a crisis situation receiving no other state or waiver funding.

  • Virtual respite training program for respite providers.

If you are looking for resources for a different state/region, we recommend reaching out to a local Down syndrome parent organization or reviewing the resources provided on the ARCH National Respite Network and Resource Center website (www.archrespite.org).
