Plan For Managing My Emotions

October 2022 | Adult Down Syndrome Center - Visual Handout

When we talk about emotions during our social skills groups for adolescents and adults with Down syndrome, we explain that it is ok to feel any emotion; however, it is not ok to have negative behaviors (like yelling, hitting self or others, or destroying property). The template linked below can be used to create a plan for when we feel certain emotions. It creates a reminder of calming strategies someone can use to make a good choice and manage his/her emotions. An example is also provided below. Tap or click on the images to open a printable version of the handouts.
